The history of Boston Lighthouse on Little Brewster Island is long and rich. In fact, because there is so much history associated with that lighthouse. A number of books have been written just about it. So, instead of writing a long detailed story about the lighthouse, we have decided to share with you a selection of photographs - some forgotten and some rarely seen images from the archives of Lighthouse Digest. Each photo is worth a thousand words. As you look at these photos, many of which you won’t find published anywhere else, let your mind drift and imagine what life would have been like living out there in the early years and up to the era of the modern keeper.
This story appeared in the
Nov/Dec 2016 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition. For subscription information about the print edition, click here.
