Lighthouse keeper BM1 Wesley T. Pannett, shown here in 1993, said that a couple of times a year the lighthouse crew would give into their cravings for pizza and make a phone call for pizza to be delivered to the Coast Guard Station in Hull and they would motor over to get it. But, realizing the possible dangers, they only did this when the weather was calm and the sea was smooth. They were always cognizant of the danger of the sea. On November 21, 1952, while enroute back to Boston Light in the light station’s 14-foot boat, assistant keeper Richard B. Fedey and local contractor Wilfred MacNeil disappeared. No one knows what really happened, but after an extensive search, Wilfred MacNeil’s body was found, but Richard B. Fedey’s body was never found. Both men left behind families.
