A lightship was stationed at Colchester Reef in the 1870s to 1885. The lghthouse built in 1885 has been removed; now there is just a skeleton tower and a helipad on the site.

Characteristic and Range: Flashing red every 4 seconds, visible for 5 miles.

Description of Tower: Steel skeleton tower on cylindrical caisson.
