An extremely rare photograph from the Lighthouse Digest archives, shows the DCB-10 Aero Beacon as it appeared in 1972 in the lantern of Maine’s Bear Island Lighthouse. We are still researching when the optic was installed at Bear Island Light and when it was removed. If any of our readers can help, we’d love to hear from you.
Interestingly, another rare photo is the DCB-10 Aero Beacon that was in use at Maine’s Little River Lighthouse from 1968 to 1975; however, it did not have a glass dome.
We wonder what happened to these optics? Today they would be great artifacts for museum displays.
