Dot Black (left) co-chairperson of Maine’s Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse (a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation) receives a check for $500 from Lee Ann Szelog, chairperson of Maine’s Marshall Point Lighthouse Committee. Barely visible in the background is the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Szelog said the donation from the Marshall Point general fund was a good will gesture on the part of her committee. “We’ve been there and know what hard work it is,” she said. The Friends of Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse are in the process of raising $250,000, which is the estimated amount it will cost to restore the historic lighthouse.
