July 2000

This month’s cover photo is of the Cape Forchu (Yarmouth) Lighthouse in Nova Scotia, Canada. Built in 1961, amidst much controversy, the lighthouse replaced an earlier structure from 1839. The lighthouse property has now been transferred to the community and is managed by the Friends of Yarmouth Light. The house has been beautifully restored as a museum and the well-maintained grounds are picture postcard perfect. Next door to the lighthouse is a wonderful gift shop and public washrooms.
