In December of 2010, photographs of an ice-encased Cleveland West Breakwater Lighthouse, now known as the Cleveland Main Entrance Lighthouse, in Cleveland, Ohio made quite a stir in the national and international news.
But, as shown here, this was not the first time that photographs of the ice-encased lighthouse made national news. It also happened in February of 1948, many years before the 1911 lighthouse was destaffed in 1965.
