This lighthouse was built in 1894 by the French Company Bubbler & Bernard. It stands on a tank 14 feet deep, filled with water to keep the tower balanced in the event of an earthquake. On March 25, 2003, Mary Mac Whitener writes, "I just returned from Spring Break in Negril, Jamacia with my family and friends. We stayed at Beaches. Our request for a driver to take us to town and to the Negril Point Lighthouse was a wonderful experience. Mr. Johnson took us inside, gave us a brief history and took us to the top and out the hatch to look around. The view was unbelievable. I loved the way the lighthouse was laid out on the inside, with steps and landings to rest before continuing up."
