Notes:Waipapa Point was the site of New Zealand’s worst shipwreck.  On April 29, 1881, 131 people died when the passenger steamer Tararua was wrecked on a reef off the point.
 Tower Height: 43  Height of Focal Plane: 69  Characteristic and Range: Five white flashes every 20 seconds, visible for nine nautical miles.  Description of Tower: White, octagonal wooden tower.
