Sanibel’s lighthouse was referred to by many as a “beacon of hope” during the first weeks after Hurricane Ian destroyed much of the island on September 28, 2022. Repairs were also made to the cast iron ladder, five tie rods, and two window stops. And at the same time, beach re-nourishment was done.
