Many people have contacted us wanting to know where the recent Hallmark movie, Moriah’s Lighthouse, was filmed. In case you haven’t seen the movie, it’s about a lady named Moriah (Rachelle Lefevre) who is a talented woodworking artisan who carefully crafts beautiful creations for her clients in a beautiful French island town where her family has lived for generations.
Moriah dreams of one day being able to purchase the decommissioned, and abandoned, keeper’s house and use her plans and skill to lovingly restore it to its full beauty. However, Ben (Luke Macfarlane), an American architect, who checks in to her aunt’s hotel for the summer, may be the fly in the ointment. Moriah is shocked and saddened to learn that Ben has been hired to possibly tear down the old keeper’s house and design a house for the new owner. But the purchaser has an unexpected connection to the island, which will lead to more surprises.
The lighthouse in the movie is the Ploumanac’h Lighthouse, also known as the Mean Ruz Lighthouse, in Cotes-d’Armor, France. It was built in 1946-48 to replace the 1860 lighthouse that was destroyed by the Germans on August 4, 1944, during World War II.
