This past May 27th, the popular ABC-TV program “Good Morning America” (GMA) broadcast live to millions of people from the top of the tower at Maine’s West Quoddy Head Lighthouse.
The lengthy segments, narrated by GMA reporter Will Reeve, talked about Mainers’ lives during the Pandemic, the road to recovery and why Maine, with its all its outdoor amenities, is such a popular tourist destination. Although they showed some dramatic drone footage of a number of Maine’s lighthouses, they concentrated heavily on the Maine’s breweries and the lobster industry, including the popular Lobster Shack Restaurant near the Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse (Two Lights) in the community of Cape Elizabeth.
However, the highlight of the program was the dramatic drone flight footage over the rockbound coast at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse where the sun first touches the mainland each day in the United States. All-in-all, it was great publicity for Maine’s lighthouses, especially West Quoddy Head Light in Lubec, Maine.
