1924 Fog Signal Installation

The Lighthouse Service tender Sumac tied up by ...

Because photographs of the installation of fog signal equipment at lighthouses are extremely rare, these photos are a vital slice of lighthouse history. They were taken in 1924 at what is now known as Wisconsin’s Racine Breakwater Lighthouse by William F. Terp, who was a crewman onboard the U. S. Lighthouse Service tender Sumac from 1923 to 1926.
