This past September 22nd, the New England Lighthouse Lovers (NELL) donated $4,600 to the West Quoddy Head Light Keepers Association (WQHLKA). The funds came in the form of a grant awarded for $4,100 for the purchase of a museum quality display case or cases, and the purchase of a U.S. Lighthouse Service reproduction keeper’s jacket and hat to be displayed at their museum in the Visitors Center at the lighthouse, and a $500 donation toward WQHLKA’s general fund.
The donations were made during NELL’s excursion to lighthouses of Downeast Maine and New Brunswick, Canada.
The red and white striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is located in the Quoddy Head State Park in Lubec, Maine. It is the easternmost lighthouse on the mainland of the Continental Atlantic Coast of the United States.
NELL is an IRS approved 501c3 nonprofit, and over the years they have raised tens of thousands of dollars that they have given to numerous and varied lighthouse projects in the New England States.
