It was only months ago that the Cape San Blas keepers quarters looked as though they were about to go the way of past keepers quarters at this historic Florida site.
Both buildings have seen lots of wear from a combination of neglect, storms, and hurricanes, especially the building closest to the water's edge.
In a major undertaking, one of the keeper's quarters has now undergone extensive restoration, including the interior.
The project was the result of joint efforts between the Elgin Air Force Base, Gulf County Historical Society, the Florida Lighthouse Association and local county commissioners.
