It has been announced by Canadian authorities that the Long Eddy Point Lighthouse and the Inch Arran Lighthouse have been protected under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act.
As of this writing, a total of 92 lighthouses in eight provinces have now been protected under the Act, and more designations are expected to follow. Among the 92 heritage lighthouses, 42 are to be managed by the Canadian federal government and 50 are to be managed by non-federal owners. Under the Act, the owners of the lighthouses may be able to apply for federal funding to support conservation and preservation projects through Parks Canada.
