This mid 1900s press photo shows what appears to be a young girl touching the bulb inside the 1st order Fresnel lens at Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse in Florida, something that surely would not be allowed in this day. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was automated in 1987 and is now managed by the Loxahatchee River Historical Society as the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum.

This story appeared in the Jan/Feb 2015 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine.
