The famous Chicago Harbor Lighthouse is now owned by the City of Chicago.
Ownership of historic lighthouse was transferred to the city under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000.
The lighthouse, which was built in 1893 and automated in 1979, received landmark status in 2003. City officials believe they can make the lighthouse into a museum that will be accessible to the public.
