The 13th annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival expresses their appreciation to Lighthouse Digest for its promotion of the 2008 Festival. In spite of the economy, this year's event was a huge success. Over 3,500 people from 17 states and Canada attended. Many of those who attended said they did so as a direct result of seeing the event promoted in Lighthouse Digest.
This year 35 different lighthouse groups or associations benefited from the event and in excess of $10,000 will be shared with some of them through our Sharing Program. As well as raising money, many ideas were exchanged and new friends were made, which opened up more lines of communication amongst the lighthouse groups.
Working together to save lighthouses and their history works in sharing by WE and not ME. In other words, simply turn the first letter in ME upside down and you get WE. And WE as a team, meaning all the lighthouse groups, benefit by working together for the good of all. You've been doing it for years and we've been doing it for years. Thanks for being part of US.
Sincerely and from the heart,
Marv Theut, on behalf of all the Board of Directors and volunteers of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival.
