By And The Winners Are . . . .

The winners of the 13th annual Lighthouse Digest Photo Contest are featured in this month’s issue. We have done things slightly different than past years by featuring all three of our First Place winning category entries on the back cover as well as on the front cover of the magazine.

Although it seems we say this every year, it remains to be true, this was one of the most difficult years to judge. Although judging a photo contest can be fun, especially when we view images of seldom seen or obscure lighthouses, it is also extremely difficult.

We do not have professionals judge the contest. Instead our contest is judged by a wide variety of people who simply vote on their favorite photographs in each category. All photographs are judged from the front and the people judging never see the name of the photographers and in some cases the people judging don’t even know the name of the lighthouse, but are judging on their personal taste only. Therefore, we have no idea when one photographer may have more entries in one category or even have more than one photo in the top three.

We wish to thank everyone for the thousands of photographs that were submitted, we sincerely appreciate it. It really shows that there are lots of people out there that love lighthouses. But as with every contest, there can only be a few winners. Remember, if you didn’t win this time, there’s another contest just down the road.

Congratulations to our winners. We hope you enjoy their photographs as much as they surely enjoyed taking them.

Our sincere thanks to our family of lighthouse friends for making the Lighthouse Digest 13th Annual Lighthouse Photo Contest another one of the best.
