Old receipts, documents and paperwork from the U. S. Lighthouse Service are important parts of history. Most have been discarded and thrown out over time, but somehow or another some always seems to survive. With a little investigation and detective work some may even have a real story to tell. Others may simply be a piece of paper from another time of no real significance.
This receipt dated in Sandusky, Ohio on Oct. 4, 1878 was for $5.00 paid by the U. S. Lighthouse Service to the Tug Mystic for $5.00 for transferring lighter for the Sandusky Bay Cribs.
