Photo Caption:

The Cape Mendocino Lighthouse, CA after the Fresnel lens was removed from the tower and a new beacon was installed in the lantern room. When the government abandoned the light station this beacon was removed from the lantern room and a light was installed on a pole near the lighthouse. The tower no longer stands at this location. In the late 1900s, volunteers removed the rusted hulk and then restored and reassembled the tower in Shelter Cove, California.
