June 4, 1901: Connie Scovill Small is born in Lubec, Maine. At the age of 85, she wrote the book The Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife, about her life at lighthouses with her husband, Elson Small. Connie Small gave over 600 lectures and was widely known as “The First Lady of Light.” Back to the edition of: June 2007
