Paul and Helen Baptiste from a 1994 photograph. Paul and Helen raised nine children at various lighthouses in New England. They were stationed at Baker’s Island Light off Salem, Massachusetts from 1947 to 1948. One year, in expectation of Edward Rowe Snow as the Flying Santa, they wrote "Hi Santa" using sand bags on the ground so they could be seen from Snow's plane. Edward Rowe Snow immortalized the greeting when he took a photograph of it and published it in one of his many books.
