Presented by the British government To Mr. Eben Emerson Lighthouse Keeper, Wood Island. In recognition of His Humane Services to the Crew of the Edyth Ann of Digby, Nova Scotia On the 16th of March 1865.
The above inscription is on the brass plaque attached to a small wooden box containing the pair of commemorative binoculars.These binoculars remain with the family.
