Photo Caption:
The Carquinez Strait Lighthouse during its mid-move on August 6, 1955 on a 130’x40’ barge as it is being towed underneath the Carquinez Bridge by a 600 horsepower tug boat operated by Les Peterson. The tower and lantern had been removed so the structure could get under the bridge. It is unknown what happened to the lantern, but it can be assumed that it was sold for scrap.
