Photo Caption:
Edwin Clements lived in this beautiful 1893 double-dwelling keeper’s house at Patos Island Lighthouse. In 1958, in total disregard for historic preservation, the Coast Guard demolished the house, thereby destroying the historical integrity of the light station forever. They never knew or probably even cared that lighthouse keeper Edwin Clements, a man who lost his life performing his duty for his country, once lived there.
