Photo Caption:
The 1883 Lime Point Lighthouse Station where lighthouse keeper Elmer R. Williams was stationed from 1940 to around 1944. The Lime Point Lighthouse Station was under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. After the light station was automated in the early 1960s, all of the buildings except the fog signal building were demolished, and the light was placed on a post. Today, the fog signal building is in ruins and is slowly crumbling away. (Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: Jan/Feb 2016
