The 2nd Point Arguello Lighthouse, shown here from a 1917 photo, was built next to the original structure of the first lighthouse. The lantern, which had protruded from the top of the original structure, was removed and placed on top of the new stone tower. Notice the fog horns on top of the building which continued to contain the machinery for the fog horn. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
