Sambro Island Lighthouse at the entrance to Halifax Harbor in Nova Scotia, Canada as is appeared on September 4, 2014. The building shown to the right is the engine room/foghorn building that was built in the early 1960s to house the station’s diaphone along with generators. Later it housed backup generators and equipment for an electric foghorn as well as a radio beacon. Recently the batteries for the light were moved from the building and into the tower. Since the final foghorn was decommissioned, the building is now unused. The Sambro Island Lighthouse Heritage Society is hoping to restore the building.
