Legendary Irish lighthouse keeper Gerald Butler in front of the gigantic 1st order lens that was once in the Baily Lighthouse that is now on display at the National Museum of Ireland in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. The 1814 Baily Lighthouse is located on the southeastern tip of Howth Head on the approach to Dublin, Ireland. Gerald Butler joined the Irish Lighthouse in 1969 and during his 21 years as a keeper, he served at a number of Ireland’s lighthouses, including the famous lights at Bull Rock, Fastnet Rock, and of course at Baily Lighthouse, as well as others. He recently wrote a book of his memoirs titled The Lightkeeper.
