An authentic U.S. Light House Service watchman’s badge. In recent years, replicas of this badge have been made and widely sold to collectors. The primary difference between the replicas and the real badges are that the real badges are a heavier weight and have a higher quality pin on the reverse. Also in recent years many docents and guides at lighthouses have incorrectly affixed these to their replica uniforms. (Lighthouse Digest collection.)
