Photo Caption:
In 1912 when the last lighthouse keeper, David Somerville, was removed from Point Sherman Lighthouse, the small short tower was removed from its stone piling and placed on the lawn in front of the no longer used keeper’s house. At the time, perhaps there were some plans to save the old structure; if so, they never materialized. (U.S. Lighthouse Service photo, Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: Mar/Apr 2015
