If you look closely at this undated historic image, you will see the very short Point Sherman light tower that sits on a stone foundation by the flag pole. The first keeper appears to have been a man named Andrew Jackson who served there from 1905-1909. In this photo you will notice, in the water off the lighthouse, a boat being rowed by a woman, probably the lighthouse keeper’s wife, with two small children. Under a magnifying glass we could read the words Point Sherman Light Station painted on the stern of the boat. (U.S. Lighthouse Service photo, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
