The Windmill Point Lighthouse, the Light House Inn and a car from one of the members of the Detroit Motor Boat Club. From 1913 to 1916 the private membership Detroit Motor Boat Club occupied the Light House Inn. Its members included such notables at William Scripp and Horace Dodge. Scripp was the publisher of the Detroit News and also the first man in Michigan to own and fly an airplane. Horace Dodge, an inventor in his own right, along with his brother, John, were major suppliers and stock holders in the Ford Motor Co. In 1913 the Dodge Brothers founded the Dodge Automobile Co. and in 1917 produced their first commercial automobile. Horace Dodge built what was described as “unquestionably the most regal residence in Grosse Point’ in the vicinity of the Windmill Point Lighthouse
