1998 image of the crew of the Coast Guard buoy tender Red Birch 687 painting the Baltimore Lighthouse. The crew used ten gallons of tar to recover the roof, 20 gallons of white paint for the main structure and 20 gallons of red paint for the cylinder. Later that year, on December 6, 1998, the Red Birch was decommissioned and transferred to the government of Argentina. (Lighthouse Digest archive photo by Ed Moreth.)
