Long Island Head Lighthouse in Boston Harbor, Massachusetts as it appeared in 1915. Built in 1901, this is the fourth tower to be built on the island that was once also home to Fort Strong. In 1998 the Coast Guard footed the bill to renovate the tower, which today stands as a lonely sentinel that is off limits to the general public. Lighthouse Digest would like to do in in-dept story on the lighthouse, but historic images of the lighthouse and photographs of the keepers and family members who lived there and many of their stories and memories have remained elusive. If you know where photos and other information can be located please e-mail editor@LighthouseDigest.com or write to us at P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630.
