Carl Olaf Svendsen, who was the head keeper at St. Simons Lighthouse from 1907 to 1935, is shown here with his family. He started his lighthouse career in 1900 at Bulls Bay Lighthouse in South Carolina. He then went on to serve at Florida’s Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and South Carolina’s Morris Island Lighthouse before going to St. Simons. He was born in 1878 and died at the lighthouse in 1935.
