Horace Foster Norton (1843-1911) is shown here at the age of 66 in 1909. As a young man, he assisted keeper Wellman Spear, Sr. in the 1860 rescue. In 1866, he became an assistant lighthouse keeper at Whitehead Lighthouse a, position he held for two years.
