Adriel Bird was born in Rockland, Maine on July 25, 1893. He was a graduate of Bowdoin College (1919) and later became the president of the alumni council. Adriel married famous artist Esther Brock in 1916, but she later left him and resided in London for 20 years until their official divorce in 1948, which left Adriel free to garner a playboy reputation during the time they were separated. He then married Marion McGee in December of 1948 until his death on April 15, 1950. He is buried in the Achorn Cemetery in Rockland, Maine.
