George Codding (l), a 44-year veteran lighthouse keeper, served as the keeper of the Rochester Harbor lighthouses for nearly 27 years. Before coming to Genesee, he served as a keeper at the Ashtabula Lighthouse in Ohio and the South Buffalo Lighthouse in New York. Shown with him is Wilbur Folwell, the assistant keeper in Rochester from 1933 to 1940. On January 1, 1940, upon George Codding’s retirement, Folwell became the Head Keeper and served in that position until 1947. (Photograph courtesy of June & Paul Codding.)
