The Rochester Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse covered in ice. Codding was stranded in the lighthouse during this storm. Running out of fuel, Codding was forced to rip up the floorboards of the house to burn them for warmth. The lighthouse was also known as the Charlotte-Genesee West Pierhead Lighthouse and the Genesee West Pierhead Lighthouse. (photograph courtesy Rochester Museum and Science Center.)
