Kevin Duffus is shown here standing with the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse 1853 Henry-Lepaute Fresnel lens which was senselessly vandalized in the 1940s. The lens sits atop its 1870 pedestal after it was recovered though Duffus’ leadership from the top of the lighthouse in 2006. Duffus solved the mystery of the lost lens in 2002. In 2016, he revealed that the original and historic Cape Hatteras 1853 Henry-Lepaute pedestal is in the watch room of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse in California.
