Vintage image of Michigan’s Menominee North Pier Lighthouse as it appeared after the fog signal building was removed in 1927. At that time, a diaphone fog signal was installed in the tower. In good weather, rather than walk on the elevated walkway, keepers were known to ride a bicycle on the pier to reach the lighthouse. (Lighthouse Digest archives) Back to the edition of: Sep/Oct 2020
