Range lights were established on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina in 1873 to guide ships into Calibogue Sound. The rear range light housed a fifth order Fresnel lens in a tower extending from the keeper’s dwelling. This 1885 photo shows keeper Patrick Comer and his family.
