This is the first St. Paul Island Southwest Lighthouse that was destroyed by fire in 1916. Other than the terrain, it was a near twin, if not identical, to the nearby St. Paul Island Northeast Lighthouse, which is also known as the St. Paul Island North Point Lighthouse.
