It was a rare sight to see the 120-year-old 4th order Fresnel lens still in its original place with a modern Vega beacon turned on in front of it. The contrast of the old and new together provided a real sense of how lighthouses have been and continue to be a necessary part of our maritime heritage in protecting and assisting those at sea.
