Photo Caption:
This rare photo shows both the temporary Marblehead Lighthouse and the new skeleton style tower. The 6th order Fresnel lens was removed from the temporary tower and installed in the new 105-foot-tall lighthouse, which was lighted for the first time on April 17, 1896. The temporary tower and the 100-foot-tall light mast were demolished shortly after this photo was taken. (Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: Jul/Aug 2019
