The same picture of both friends, showing more detail of Oyster Bayou Lighthouse. Leo L. Guidry (l), on the outer deck of Louisiana’s Oyster Bayou Lighthouse.
Leo Guidry, born in 1876, served in the U.S. Lighthouse Service for 30 years. He was the head keeper at Ship Shoal Lighthouse when Godfrey Kiff was the assistant keeper there. Then he transferred to Oyster Bayou Light where he was stationed for 11 years and then Godfrey and Guidry both transferred together to Louisiana’s Point au Fer Lighthouse. Godfrey Kiff said that Leo Guidry was one of the best keepers he ever worked with and he tried to follow in his footsteps. (Photograph courtesy of the Morgan City Library.)
