The first South Haven Lighthouse, shown here, built is 1872, is where James Donahue was the keeper until a new round metal tower was built in 1903. Reportedly, when the old wooden tower was discontinued, Donahue erected it in his yard to preserve it as an historical relic. (Michigan Maritime Museum.)
